If I had my way, every couple I work with would walk away with an album from their wedding. There is nothing that compares with the weight and substance of a beautifully handcrafted book. Especially when the focus of that book is your own incredibly awesome day of joining and celebrating. It made me very happy to ship this fine piece of work off to Greg+Elysa last week. As I wrapped it up I imagined them running fingers along the soft leather and embossed title, thumbing the smooth paper and the flat binding, turning the thick pages, and enjoying each moment of it. They'll be able to do the same thing on their 50th anniversary, regardless of computer upgrades and technological changes. This is a good thing.
We had our first good snowstorm last weekend, a welcome weather event for many in Golden. Including the Johnstons. They're ready for snow, with plenty of handmade knits, ginger snaps and tea, and the cutest little sled you ever did see. Adah is full of enthusiasm for the snow, tromping around in her little purple boots and stopping now and again to dance or direct or simply smile. It felt good to be out in it for the first time this winter, even more so with such a lovely little family.
This is one busy, active family full of athletes and go-getters. Which makes their time in the Columbia Valley especially relaxing and rejuvenating. It's not many the autumn weekend that the Munns are able to be in Golden, but we managed to catch up on their last visit and get some family photos.
Orla! The golden princess, as the origin of her Gaelic name is understood, is contentedly settling into her new home here in Golden. Most appropriate. It has been a winding road for Orla and her incredible new parents. And so the trio is most pleased to be watching snow fall from inside their cozy home. Life is precious, and life is good.
I've been a great big fan of Adriann since we first met, back in my early days of living in Golden, BC. She is a stellar human. We've adventured together in cool places, remote canyons, white forests, capsule hotels. When she called to say she and Adam were about to get real, about to plan a wedding, it made me silly happy. Adam is a perfect compliment to Adriann's everything. They're professionals, got their heads on straight, as the saying goes. But they can play [and party] like there's nothing else worth living for. They're powerhouses on the trail and in the snow, and damn, they're fun. It was no surprise that their wedding was damn fun too. Both the ceremony and reception were at the beautifully situated Alpine Club of Canada Clubhouse in Canmore. With friends and family, style and class, and an after hours switcheroo to one-pieces and wigs. Loved every minute.
This little one is a busy kid. Much to see and do on these last autumn days. Like riding bikes and squeezing mum's hand. Like putting on her own shoes and climbing up on rocks. Busy. This is the best possible use of the word.
