Nancy and Cali came over for lunch and a visit today. We took a few photos in the fresh snow in the yard, first of the season really. Calista is just about the happiest little babe one can imagine. Which seems about right, because so is her mum. One of these lucky photos will end up on a puzzle for Nancy's own mum to enjoy on the other side of the country. Puzzleface was the nickname given to Cali for the afternoon. She didn't seem to mind. She doesn't seem to mind much.

Marching. She may only be one and a bit, but she marches. With purpose.

Leo is a big growing boy now, not so very far off 3 months. But when these photos were taken, he was quite new to the world. Two weeks new. I was keen to take some shots of the newest addition to Kris and George's family, and spent a mellow afternoon snapping away and catching up. Lucia was more than happy to share her ability to sit contentedly and smile in front of the camera. A skill her little brother will surely pick up along the way.

There was a bit of this thrown into our mellow afternoon. Leo is definitely happiest in his mum's arms. And bouncing, definitely bouncing.

Monica and Doug. Avery and Romy. Mara and Reid. Cosmo the hound and the newest member of the family, Rocky the reptile. An ancient piano and a beautifully remodelled home. A chilly walk down to the tracks, to the river. It was a really nice Sunday afternoon with the Parkinsons.

Monica is a clothing designer, the mastermind behind the eco-aware children's clothing line Spinning Dizzy. I'm excited to one day see the new studio when the reno is complete. She has a great sense of color, which comes through in her business and her home.

Rocky couldn't join the crew for the outdoor photo session. Still worthy of documentation. A leopard gecko.

Monica learned to play piano on this old beauty. Mara, among others, is carrying the torch now.

Steve, Monica, and Sierra all played a key role in our wedding this summer. As a little thank you, I offered to take some shots of the fam. We squeezed it in between school and early evening mountain biking, right around their neighborhood. A little something to send to Mon's grandparents.

jon + lindsay | savary island wedding

What an amazing event that was. Jon and Lindsay decided little over a month ago to get married, and to do so on a remote island off the Sunshine Coast of BC. I've been hearing about this magical island for a few years from Chuck, Jon's brother and my good friend. It lived up to all the hype. It was an insanely gorgeous weekend of unusually warm and sunny weather, wonderful family and hilarious friends, boat rides and skinny dips, live music and delicious food, ferns and cedars, and most importantly, love love love.

Jon sported his grandfather's top hat. Very dapper.

There are very few vehicles on Savary, at least at this time of year. Guests got from place to place by trails through the woods, on foot, on bike, in Gators, and in the back of trucks. Every effort was made to ensure said truck beds were comfy and warm.

Lindsay took a few moments before the ceremony to soak in the sunshine before heading off to the tiny little chapel in the trees. It was warm and glorious, and felt more like July than October.

The bouquet was handmade by the bride herself. She combined vintage button and beautiful printed papers with handwritten notes that Jon had left for her over the years.

The tiny little church on Savary holds maybe 30 people comfortably. Jon and Lindsay managed to make room for 80, and the energy was rich and warm as a result.

The Gator was the chariot of choice for the newlyweds. They rallied back and forth in front of the church a couple of times, much to the crowds delight.

Josée and Mike are the proud new parents of a most adorable little baby girl. Ivy. I trust that most people who choose to have children will make good parents with a bit of practice and patience. Mike and Josée . . . they seem to be naturals right from go. I kept expecting to see their 6 other children on whom they'd honed their baby skills, but no, they really are first timers. Ivy is in good hands.

Aspen used to be the baby. Still pretty happy to be held like one.
