mike + tina | invermere backyard wedding

Rain and love, laughter and mud, friends and family, orchids and umbrellas. It was that kind of day when Tina and Mike got married in Invermere a couple weeks ago. Both utterly un-phased by the weather, they joked that they may as well have had a January wedding in their home city of Vancouver. But I'm glad they came out this way, to celebrate in the mountains, to share their love with folks from near and far.

I'm a huge fan of the backyard wedding, when people choose their own special space as the place for their vows. It's extra special when those two people in front of my lens are dear friends of mine. Such was the case when Billie and Larry said really nice things to one another, in front of their closest, and beside their sweet daughter, Nova. It was a wonderful thing.

Loved it? Check these out too then!

This one was a real treat . . .  a tiny wedding in a beautiful backyard in Nicholson, a pristine refurbished Model A vintage car, the cutest little ringbearing flower girl excited to see her parents wed, and some stunning locations. Tony and Diana did it up right.

Brad and Lisa put together a raucous good time kind of a wedding, with big trucks and bigger smiles, with family from Oz and from right here, with sunshine and a few drops of rain too. It was good times.

We went to Clearwater this past weekend to be witnesses to the union of friends. The whole shindig was in their very own backyard, overlooking the Thompson River. I'm a sucker for the backyard wedding, for fantastic flowing views as the weather washed through, for outhouses on high river banks, for playful dogs that want to be part of the all the action, and especially for people in love. It was a grand weekend. I was in attendance as a guest only, but like many guests at many weddings, I enjoyed taking some photos. To keep things simple, I limited myself to shooting with only one lens, a 50mm, a longtime favorite. Here's what I saw through that lens.
